He has grown into the most magnificent of doggos.
He was dumped into the LA shelter system on Valentine's Day 2024. It took us 80 days and donations from all over the world to liberate him and move him to Montana. He arrived with a laundry list of behavior issues but was generally kind. As his intake sheet said "He likes to wrestle". He was 13 months old when he arrived at Norris Ark.
It has taken him a while but he finally has a solid respectful approach to people. Other animals are case by case. Cats are a no go.
He would prefer to be the one and only pet. He will tolerate and be friendly with dogs smaller than the average heeler.
He needs a secure tall fence and a good sized yard. While he likes to lounge around, soaking up affection and belly rubs, why do that when there is romping room.
He is housetrained; attention to his alert must be given. A doggie door out to his domain would be ideal.
He does walk on leash and responds well in a simple slip lead.
He has knowledge of several basic cues Sit, Down, Stand, Place, Kennel, and has been getting better at impulse control.
The fear of water he had when he arrived has vanished. He is now fairly easy to groom. His size is more the obstacle at this point.
He can be reactive to other large dogs. An experienced handler is needed. He will be fine as a homebody.

For the photo session he walked in, met the photographer Nik Michele and volunteer Amanda Kay for the first time. Did the famous Saint Bernard lean for both of them. Then walked over to the pillow, sat down and looked at Nik.
